M. D. Murphy is new to the K.C. art scene, though he has been a creative professional for nearly 50 years.

To date, he is better known for his work as a singer-musician and a model-actor. “Michael” was recently inducted into the Kansas Music Hall of Fame with the classic rock band NATION. He has written and produced jingles for advertising and appeared in print and TV ads for a wide variety of regional and national companies. He is a former member of the American Federation of Musicians (AFM), The American Federation of Radio and Television Artists (AFTRA) and the Screen Actors Guild (SAG).

Michael and his wife Mary Lockton (a ballroom dancer) are newlyweds. They met at a local art fair and since then, she has served on the K.C. Arts Council and they have been happy supporters of the local music and art communities. They are often out on the town dancing to live music and they collect an eclectic assortment of artwork for their homes on the Plaza in K.C. and in Naples, FL.
